The Art Calendar 2011 with paintings by Asja König has been developed in cooperation with Shire Germany and was designed by Anke Poltermann.
What we do
The Bowel Disease Foundation supports children and young adults who suffer from Crohn’s disease or ulcerative colitis. The foundation also promotes research on these diseases and the development of new therapies. To inform people about inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and its impact on patients is another important goal of the foundation.

Exhibition project INFLAMED
In a unique joint project, students of the art college Muthesius Kunsthochschule have contributed their artist's perspective on inflammatory diseases.
In cooperation with the research cluster of excellence "Inflammation at Interfaces", the art students approached the topic through discussions with researchers and physicians and participation in medical science lectures. A wide variety of objects, graphic art and installations on "inflammation" were the result.
The Bowel Disease Foundation and Abbott Germany promoted the project, whose results were exhibited on 20th April 2010 at the Schleswig-Holstein Representation in Berlin.

Cooking with a gut feeling
To eat and to drink are among our essential needs, to feed and indulge greatly influences our well-being. That is particularly true for people with a very sensitive system such as IBD patients.
In a new cookbook, Michelin-starred chef Holger Stromberg has collected recipes especially catering to persons with IBD. The book was inspired by recipe suggestions made by people with inflammatory bowel disease.
The Bowel Disease Foundation receives 1 Euro to support their work of each book sold. On a nationwide roadshow introducing the book, the Bowel Disease Foundation presented their work and the current grant programme. The roadshow called in Frankfurt, Dresden, Cologne, Berlin, Hamburg, Munich and Karlsruhe among other major German cities.
